Suitably Qualified Person

A Suitably Qualified Person can assist a Responsible Supplier in determining if the evidence held for Level 1 and Level 2 equipment is suitable as evidence for conformance with the safety requirements under the EESS.

A Suitable Qualified Person can conduct equipment testing (if they have appropriate test facilities) and can produce test reports or reports of assessment of documentation to confirm that the type of Level 1 or 2 equipment being registered meets the relevant standard.

These reports would form part of the documentary evidence to demonstrate the equipment is electrically safe and meets the relevant standard which is required to be kept by the Responsible Supplier.

A Suitably Qualified person is an individual who has:

  1. a degree qualification in electrical engineering and at least 2 years’ experience in the use of electrical equipment safety standards for regulatory purposes
  2. an advanced diploma or equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline and at least 3 years’ experience in the use of electrical equipment safety standards for regulatory purposes
  3. a trade qualification in an electrical discipline and at least 4 years’ experience in the use of electrical equipment safety standards for regulatory purposes.
